Discover Your Next Great Opportunity at MICPA Career Fair
On Friday, Sept. 18 in Livonia, accounting students will have the opportunity to connect face-to-face with employers from all over the state and get the advantage in the search for a great job or internship in the accounting field. Additionally, if you’re looking for information about the best post-graduate programs, you will not be disappointed. This event is a great way to get your foot in the door and start building your ideal career. Be sure to read up on the employers you are interested in speaking with before you arrive, and dress professionally! Students attend for free, but you should pre-register here.

Seven Tips for Career Fair Success

  1. Have plenty of copies of your resume ready.
  2. Prepare a 20-30 second introduction to use with employers (who you are, what you’re looking for, and how your skills align with the company’s needs).
  3. Plan a few key questions.
  4. Find out which companies will be there, make a list of those you want to talk with. Prioritize the list.
  5. Dress for success in interview attire.
  6. Someone at the career fair may provide a bag, but just in case, you may want to take along something to neatly hold the brochures, trinkets, etc. that you collect from employers.
  7. Don’t be intimidated by long lines. At the end of the day you’ll have made face-to-face contact with potential employers. (That’s way better than just being a resume in a huge pile.)

MAF Scholarship Application Coming Soon
The Michigan Accountancy Foundation has awarded more than $1 million in scholarships to fifth/graduate year accounting students. The application for 2015 scholarships will be on the MAF website in early November.
