Governor Makes Appointment, Reappointments to the State Board of Accountancy
Gov. Rick Snyder announced the appointment of Stephanie Bergeron of Birmingham as well as the reappointments of Jennifer Kluge of Grosse Pointe and Ola Smith of Kalamazoo to the State Board of Accountancy. Bergeron, a past chair of the MICPA, and Smith are CPA members of the board; Kluge is a public member. Members serve four-year terms. Michigan Treasury Schedules Visits to Kalamazoo, Lansing and Flint
The Michigan Department of Treasury will conduct outreach sessions in Kalamazoo (Aug. 3), Lansing (Aug. 16) and Flint (Aug. 24). Upcoming sessions are planned for cash-basis entities such as gas stations, convenience stores and beer/wine/liquor stores. Treasury will provide an overview of the sales tax filing process (including MTO), the ins and outs of the audit process, how to appeal an audit decision, and more. View the flyer for details.

Escape to Belle Isle on Saturday With MICPA Emerging Leaders
MICPA’s Emerging Leaders Task Force will escape to Belle Isle on July 15 and they invite you to join in for an early morning run or walk. Task force members will serve as volunteers, but you are invited to participate in the event – run the 2 mile/5K/10k, or bring your kids for the fun run. This is a great family event, training event, or simply a fun run to enjoy the new and improved Belle Isle Park. The event raises money for the Ronald McDonald House.
