Local Governmental Units Must File New F65 Online
On Aug. 1, the Michigan Department of Treasury revised the Annual Local Unit Fiscal Report (F65) as well as the manner and location in which the form is filed. In the past, the Local Fiscal Accountability Division accepted paper and/or Excel copies of this report; that is no longer an option for local units. The state Treasury Department issued this document, which clarifies the changes.

Michigan Treasury Hosting Sales Tax Seminar in Lansing on Aug. 16
The Michigan Department of Treasury will host a sales tax outreach seminar on August 16 at the Capital Area District Libraries’ South Lansing Library. The event is geared to small businesses such as gas stations, convenience stores and wine, beer and liquor stores. Topics will include an overview of the sales tax filing process, the ins and outs of auditing and how to appeal an audit decision, and taxpayer questions and suggestions.
