IRS Rules Issued on Paid Family and Medical Leave Credit
The IRS announced on Monday that eligible employers who provide paid family and medical leave to their employees may qualify for a new business credit for tax years 2018 and 2019. Notice 2018-71 provides detailed guidance on the new credit in a question and answer format. The credit was enacted in the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

As of Sept. 23, a new tax transcript format is in use by the IRS in order to better protect taxpayer data from cybercriminals. The IRS announced the change last month and provided a preview of proposed changes in methods of distributing tax transcripts to taxpayers and their authorized third parties, such as tax practitioners.
