They Might Be Accountants – Albion College Team Makes It to Semifinals
Albion College’s They Might Be Accountants team made it to the semifinals in the AICPA’s Accounting Competition and now they need your help. Vote to show your support and help this team of students from Michigan make it to the finals to earn a trip to Washington, D.C. and $10,000. Vote here between Nov. 5 and 12.

One of the keys to success with networking is approaching it as building long-term relationships, not just a quick way to gather a stack of business cards. Gov. Rick Snyder … Always a CPA
Leveraging the expertise and skills gained as a CPA, Governor Rick Snyder has approached the state’s problems like a business challenge – gathering information, making decisions, and crafting and executing a plan. Successful in his bid for a second term in office, he is the only CPA currently serving as a governor in the U.S.. In this short video, the Governor talks about how his CPA background helped him get Michigan back on track. Governor Snyder was not alone in Tuesday’s victory. Fellow CPAs Earl Poleski, Paul Clemente and Martin Howrylak will return to the Michigan Legislature. CPA Chris Affendoulis will join his colleagues in the Michigan House of Representatives for his first term in public office as well.

Michigan Accountancy Foundation Scholarship Application Available This Week
The Michigan Accountancy Foundation (MAF) will begin taking applications by the week’s end for the 2015 MAF Final Year Scholarship. Students can go to to learn more and apply. Paper applications will also be accepted this year ­– contact Dwight Ragland for details. The application, two recommendation letters and transcript(s) must by submitted by Jan. 30, 2015. Since 2003, the Foundation has granted over $1,000,000 to 294 Michigan accounting students! 

NBA Fans: Join in the Fun at MICPA Night at the Palace
