The Internal Revenue Service has launched its tool to allow people to track their second stimulus payment.
The Get My Payment link is now live but users may experience delays due to high demand. The link allows people to track the status of their second Economic Impact Payment and whether it will arrive via direct deposit or paper check. Direct deposit of stimulus funds began last week; mailing of paper checks started Dec. 30.
Data on the tool is updated overnight so there’s no need to check back more than once per day. People are asked not to call the IRS for additional information.
The second stimulus payments – half of that approved in March during the early days of the coronavirus pandemic – include up to $600 for single people and $1,200 for married couples. Dependents are eligible for $600, a $100 increase from the previous stimulus.
There are income limits on the payments. People who earn $75,000 or less or couples who earn $150,000 or less are eligible for the full amount. The payments drop $5 for every $100 in income over that threshold.
