08:30 AM - 09:25 AM Nonprofit Fraud: Lessons Learned 1.0 AA Details

Nonprofit Fraud: Lessons Learned
While most people who work for or with nonprofits are in it for the mission, nonprofits have a history of poor internal controls and large, unexpected frauds. We will look at some case studies and lessons learned. We will also review the GAO’s COVID-19 alert related to risk assessment and fraud risk assessment during COVID as well as the ACFE’s COVID-19 Fraud benchmarking study. The lessons learned can help identify and maybe even prevent the next major nonprofit fraud.
