If there’s one thing that’s been on my mind lately, it’s this: this profession works because of you.
Not in a generic, “thanks for being a member” kind of way. I mean really YOU. The late nights. The client conversations. The problem-solving. The mentoring. The way you continue to show up for your organizations, your communities and this profession, even as everything around us continues to evolve.
And wow, is it evolving.
Expectations are shifting. Talent is changing. The path to CPA licensure is being reimagined. At times, it can feel like a lot. That’s exactly why a strong, connected community matters more than ever.
That’s what MICPA has been about for 125 years. And it’s what we continue to build together every single day.
When I think about the value of membership, it’s not just one thing. It’s the combination of moments and support that show up when you need them most:
- The timely insights and updates that help you stay ahead of change.
- The real human support when you’re navigating licensure or working through challenges with state agencies.
- The connections, conversations and CPE that help you solve problems faster and think bigger.
- The opportunity to give back, mentor and shape the next generation of CPAs.
And then there’s advocacy… a piece that often works quietly in the background but has a huge impact.
Because of your engagement and support, we’ve kept our seat at the table. We’ve been working directly with the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency to address ongoing challenges impacting firms and clients. We’ve continued meaningful conversations with legislators to ensure they understand the realities CPAs are facing every day. And we’re actively advancing efforts to create an additional pathway to CPA licensure in our state, helping open doors for the next generation.
That doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because this profession shows up with one voice.
Over the next few days, you’ll receive your annual membership dues invoice.
I want to acknowledge that moment directly. It’s an important one. And it’s also an opportunity to reflect on the role MICPA plays in supporting you and the profession as a whole.
My hope is simple: that you’ll continue with us.
Because your membership is more than a transaction. It’s a commitment to staying connected, informed and engaged. It’s an investment in a profession that continues to adapt and thrive because of people like you.
You’ll also notice an opportunity to support the MICPA bipartisan Political Action Committee. If you’re in a position to do so, I encourage you to consider it. It’s one of the most direct ways to ensure the CPA voice remains strong, visible and influential where and when it matters most.
As we celebrate 125 years, I feel a real sense of momentum. Not just because of where we’ve been, but because of where we’re going together.
THANK YOU for being part of this community. THANK YOU for the role you play in strengthening this profession. And THANK YOU for continuing to show up in ways that truly make a difference.
All the best,
Bob
