The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) launched the first phase of a new Michigan Unemployment Insurance (MiUI) system on February 23, 2026, for Employers and Third-Party Administrators (TPAs) to perform tax functions. The second phase will launch in summer 2026 which will bring benefits functions to MiUI for Employers, TPAs, and Claimants.

Getting Started with MiUI

All Employers and TPAs will need to create a MiLogin for Business account or utilize their pre-existing account to access MiUI. You can find steps on how to create a MiLogin for Business account here. You can also view  this video on creating a MiLogin for Business account. Employers and TPAs will need a MiLogin account to access MiUI.

The following Getting Started with MiUI for Employers and TPAs will provide actionable steps to begin using MiUI.

The following MiUI Prep video also provides helpful information on getting started in MiUI.

Wage Reporting in MiUI

All quarterly wage reports are now submitted in MiUI vs the legacy MiWAM system. There are four filing methods:

  1. Manual Entry
  2. File Upload
  3. Copy Previous Quarter
  4. No Employment and No Wage Reports

All file uploads will require the use of a new MiUI file format. Four formats are available for use: Delimited, ICESA, EFW2, and XML. The MiWAM delimited format is no longer supported.

You are able to test your files using the Quarterly Wage Report Testing tool at MiUI University.
