The Michigan House Finance Committee voted to move forward with two bills aimed at clarifying aspects of the Homestead Property Tax Credit. Specifically, under Chapter 9 of the Income Tax Act,

5236 defines what constitutes a “homestead.” MICPA supports both bills, which are intended to provide greater clarity for taxpayers and practitioners. MICPA member Marshall Hunt provided testimony in favor of both bills during MICPA’s CPA Day at the Capitol on June 2. The bills will now progress to the House floor for consideration.
